I use to watch defence train they mostly waste ammunition. Australian defence should not be a career the jobs are so pointless and boring they should be training on the front line in Ukraine. Mortars are no good in open country when modern warfare is now urban. A mobile mortar team over a position is more valuable then artillery.

I am very proud to say that my uncle fought at Kapyong. Prior to the battle he received partial hearing damage as he was the sentry guarding Lt Col Green's tent when the Chinese motor shell exploded wounding the Lt Col. He told me he had to fight hand to hand using his bayonet and kicks etc. Those guys endured human wave after wave assaults. He left a few of his mates behind that battle. He made it through the war and stayed in the army till he retired. He passed away in 94. I miss him still. RIP Uncle David King.

We really should've gone with the America Class LHD's and brought a couple of Squadrons worth of Vipers for them, along with at least a squadron worth of the Ch-53E's as a Sea King replacement and had them rotate through both the LHD's and even Choules. The Army could've still brought the Apache's and had them embark on the LHD's when needed too. But hey what do I know, I'm only a Veteran....
